Manipur on June 24 reported 13 new COVID-19 cases — 6 from Imphal West and 7 from Imphal East — taking the cumulative number of positive cases reported since June 1 to 171. As per data from IDSP-75/covid/2020, the state now has 137 active cases, while 14 patients were discharged today, raising the total number of recoveries since June 1 to 34.
All 14 discharged cases were in home isolation, where 124 active patients are also currently being treated. The cumulative number of samples tested since June 1 stands at 554. No COVID-related deaths have been reported in Manipur during this period.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Manipur has recorded a total of 140,185 confirmed cases, 137,904 recoveries, and 2,149 deaths. The Government of Manipur continues to urge the public to remain calm and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour, particularly with the detection of new subvariants like LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1.
Across India, the total number of active cases stands at 4,089, while 21,635 people have been discharged. Three COVID-related deaths were reported today: a 64-year-old male in Kerala with severe COVID pneumonia, PCP pneumonia, MDR Acinetobacter pneumonia, septic shock, ARDS, acute kidney injury, severe immunosuppression with multiple opportunistic infections (Toxoplasma and CMV IgM positive), diabetes, and hypertension; a 52-year-old female in Madhya Pradesh with respiratory distress and acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis/acute lung injury along with COVID-19; and a 61-year-old male in Maharashtra with hypertension, cerebrovascular event (CVE), intracerebral bleed, and COVID-19.
