A noble contribution of 1,44,000 square feet of Leng Ondabi Paat at Khoiren Meitei Village in Cachar District, Assam, made by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata and his wife Thokchom Ongbi Ranjana Devi, was warmly acknowledged today at a felicitation ceremony organised by the United Club of Yaiskul at SEACO Community Hall, Yaiskul Janmasthan.
The donated land, meant for the welfare and cultural preservation of the Meitei community settled in Assam, has been hailed as a historic gesture symbolising unity, belonging, and shared heritage beyond state boundaries.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Satyabrata said the contribution was made out of a sense of duty to protect and promote Meitei identity wherever it exists.
He expressed that the Meiteis of Assam have remained steadfast in upholding the language, culture, and traditions of Manipur despite physical distance, and the Leng Ondabi Paat initiative was intended to strengthen that bond.
