Manipur Speaker Sends ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ Message, Calls for Harmony Beyond Division

On the occasion of the 156th ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ this year, which is globally observed as the International Day of Non-Violence, the Manipur State Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh appealed to the people to renew their commitment to Gandhi’s ideas and work together to strengthen bonds among communities, uplift the marginalized, and build a Manipur that fulfills Gandhi’s dream of a society rooted in peace, justice, and dignity for all.

“In Manipur, Gandhi’s vision carries a special resonance. Our land, with its rich diversity of cultures and traditions, reflects the very unity in diversity that he cherished. His call for harmony beyond divisions, his belief in self-reliance through local strength, and his conviction that peace is the highest form of courage remain deeply relevant to our journey today,” the Speaker wrote in his message to the people.

The Speaker stated that even in his final breath, Gandhi gave us a prayer — ‘Hey Ram’ — a message that peace and faith must forever guide our journey.
