Imphal, March 2, 2026: Manipur has registered over 32,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on the Udyam portal between April 2025 and February 2026 under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme, marking significant progress in strengthening the State’s MSME sector.
The achievement was highlighted during a State-Level Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on “Interest Subvention for Women-owned MSEs and Logistics Strengthening for MSMEs” held at Imperial Hall, Classic Grande, Imphal. The programme was organised by the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries, Government of Manipur, under the RAMP initiative supported by the World Bank and the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
Managing Director of MANIDCO, Ngangbam Roman Singh, described RAMP as a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing MSME competitiveness, expanding access to finance and markets, and improving institutional capacity. Since the signing of the Letter of Understanding with the Ministry of MSME in November 2022, the State has made measurable advances in programme implementation.
Among other milestones, the MSME Help Clinic has been launched to address enterprise-level concerns, and around 600 MSMEs have been identified to transition toward sustainable and green production methods. Despite these gains, logistics facilitation and digital infrastructure continue to pose challenges, he noted, adding that these areas will remain policy priorities.
SLBC Convenor of SBI, Kangba Namkoi, underlined the responsibility of banks in operationalising the interest subvention scheme for women entrepreneurs. He urged financial institutions to take proactive measures to ensure effective credit support. He also recommended conducting similar awareness programmes at district and grassroots levels in coordination with Lead Banks, District Industries Centres, and district administrations.
Khwairakpam Deepak, OSD, MSME, emphasised the critical role of MSMEs in employment generation and inclusive development, particularly in a State like Manipur. Presentations on the RAMP programme and its components were delivered by Rex Ngangom and Manish Kumar Shah, followed by an interactive session with stakeholders.
Representatives from banks, financial institutions, and implementing agencies participated in the workshop.
