March 4, 2025: A Physics teacher from Thoubal, Maibam Sunil Singh, was arrested yesterday for allegedly leaking the Physics question paper for the High School Leaving Certificate examination.
Sunil Singh, aged 33, who works at Paradise English School and AOC Exam Centre, was taken into custody after a swift investigation by the Cyber Crime Police Station, Manipur, following a complaint filed by the Controller of Examination, COSEM.
Sunil Singh, who also runs a private hostel, was identified as the primary source of the leak after the question paper was circulated on social media on the same day. The police investigation, led by the Officer-in-Charge of Cyber Crime PS under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, successfully traced the origin of the leak. Singh’s mobile phone was seized during the arrest as evidence of the crime.
The incident has sparked concerns regarding the integrity of the examination process, especially in light of the Government of Manipur’s recent Gazette notification on preventing malpractices in exams.
Speaking on the development, SP of Cyber Crime, Ningombam John, stated that police are determined to take all necessary actions to maintain the integrity of the examination system, assuring that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure fair and transparent exams for all students.
