Manipur United Football Academy clinched the Bishnupur Girls’ Football Tournament 2025 title with a hard-fought 3-2 win over ICSA Irengbam in the final held at the Mini Secretariat Complex in Bishnupur on Monday.
The five-day competition, which kicked off on October 30, featured 12 teams competing in a 7-a-side format. The tournament was organised by the 08 Battalion CRPF in partnership with the Bishnupur District Administration, Sports Authority of India, Manipur Police, NHPC, and NHIDCL.
During the closing ceremony, Bishnupur Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam described the tournament as a powerful symbol of resilience and unity. She noted that athletes from across different regions and communities came together with a shared passion for football, demonstrating how sports can foster harmony and hope.
“Sports have the power to heal, unite, and build peace,” she said, highlighting that empowering young girls through sports contributes to a stronger future for Manipur. She thanked the organisers, partners, and supporters, and congratulated both the champions and all participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship.
Chief Guest I.K. Muivah, ADGP Manipur Police, praised the efforts to boost women’s participation in sports and encouraged more such initiatives. He applauded the players for their determination and competitive spirit.
The event was attended by senior officials including Vimal Kumar Bisht, IGP CRPF; Gursharan Singh, NHPC Head of Project; N. Kunjarani Devi, Commandant; Olympian Sushila Devi Likmabam; and officials of the Central Forces.
Held under the theme “Sports for Peace and Development,” the tournament is part of the Khelo India initiative aimed at promoting women in sports and strengthening community bonds through teamwork and inclusivity.
