March 3, 2025: The Cyber Crime Unit of Manipur Police will now be called into play to hunt the source or network that made the Physics question paper available on social messaging apps 20 minutes ahead of the scheduled exam of the ongoing Class-XII, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Exam (CoSEM).
The complaint regarding the question leak has been put forth to the CoSEM authority by the student body DESAM (Democratic Student Alliance of Manipur) this afternoon, and they have assured to hand over the issue to the Cyber Crime Unit.
Addressing the media, Secretary General of DESAM, Nongthongbam Thoithoiba, said that prior to the scheduled exam time, the Physics question paper was found circulating on social media apps. The Physics question appeared at 9:39 am, when the examination was supposed to begin at 10 am. The student body also demanded stringent action from the authorities to ensure the fair conduct of the examination.
The ongoing higher secondary exam of Manipur, conducted by CoSEM, began on the 17th of this month and is held across 112 examination centers; 38 are in 10 districts in the hills, and 74 are in 6 districts in the valley. The exam will conclude on March 26.
According to CoSEM, out of the total 29,065 students, the number of students appearing in the science stream is 20,893, the arts stream is 7,632, and the commerce stream has only 540 students.
