8 March 2025: Valley-based populace gathered in large numbers to support and participate in the peace tour spearheaded by the Federation of Civil Society (FOCS) organization of Manipur this morning. The first leg to Senapati was flagged off by FOCS leadership, including its President Th. Manihar, from the northern side of Kangla Gate here in Imphal.
However, their movement was reportedly prevented by state authorities by utilizing security forces, especially the Rapid Action Force (RAF), in front of War Cemetery in Imphal. The FOCS leadership and people were suggested and asked to take off the tour with the escort of Central Armed Police Forces from Imphal Airport, where transport services were opened today for Imphal-Kangpokpi-Senapati and vice versa.
Meanwhile, reports are also coming in that at Kangpokpi, a large number of people, especially those belonging to the Kuki tribes who are against free movement, gathered at a place in Kangpokpi to obstruct such a move.
