Jan. 28, 2025: In what could be described as a rare and inspiring event for children in the foster home institute, many a young future Messi and Neymar from Manipur have taken off to the ground to knock out each other’s team for the grand finale in the 4-day-long ‘Inter CCI (Children Home) Knockout Football Match’ that was kicked off today at SAI Complex Takyel, Imphal West. The event is organised by the Department of Social Welfare and CCI Guild Manipur.
The event is like a jamboree; aside from the football matches, the venue has food stalls and other stalls displaying handicraft items made by the heavenly artistic kinder hands of those children at home and people with special abilities.
Altogether, 28 participants will take part in the knockout football match, and the inaugural event inaugural was attended by Social Welfare Minister H. Dingo Singh, along with Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam Singh.
Social Welfare Minister H Dingo informed that the event is considered as a big initiative for the department, being participated in by the children’s homes from all the districts across the state. And the event is expected to widen the horizon of their experience among the participants and enhance their skills.
Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam informs that the objective of the festival is to explore the hidden talents of the children’s residing in the children’s homes. And to show the people they are no less than other children, as some people generally have a misconception that they may be living an unsatisfactory life. There are lots of children from both the hill and valley district of Manipur; the event will heighten their social interaction skills and team-building spirit apart from the football match.
The 4-day-long programme, which is expected to wind up on the 31st of January, is not just a celebration of football but a testament to the resilience, potential, and untapped brilliance of Manipur’s children, who are determined to make their voices heard and translate their dreams into a reality.
