The film “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra” emerged as the biggest winner at the 16th Manipur State Film Awards (MSFA) 2025, bagging multiple top honours including Best Film and Best Actor.
The awards, announced by Art and Culture Commissioner Mongjam Joy, were presented during a ceremony held at the Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Gate, celebrating the finest talents in Manipuri cinema.
During the awards ceremony, Ng-anthoibi Ningthoujam was honoured as the Best Playback Singer (Female) for her performance in ‘Thambal’, while Arbin Soibam received the accolade for Best Male Singer for ‘Tamphamani’. The award for Best Lyrics was presented to Rewben Mashangva for “Joseph’s Son”, and Tenao HD was recognized for Best Background Music in “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra”.
Abujam Ragini Devi and Wangjam Chandrima were lauded with the Best Make-up award for their work in “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra”, and the Best Editing award was shared by Sankha for “Joseph’s Son” and Yoimayai for “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra”.
In the audiography category, Loitongbam Sunil and Bony Ningthouja won Best Sound Design for ‘Herachandra’, with Sabyasachi Pal earning Best Location Sound Recordist for “Joseph’s Son”. Joydeep Bose clinched the Best Cinematography honour for the same film.
Lamnganbi Laishram was named Best Child Artiste, while Rina received the Best Supporting Actress title for ‘Thambal’. Yengkhom Ingocha took home the Best Supporting Actor award for “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra”.
Pilot was awarded Best Actor (Male) and Pinky Best Actor (Female), both for their remarkable performances in “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra”.
The Best Adapted Screenplay award went to Haobam Pabankumar and Sudhir Naorembam for “Joseph’s Son”, while Sh Inaocha Sharma was recognized as Best Art Director for ‘Thambal’. Haobam Pabankumar also received the prestigious Best Director award for “Joseph’s Son”, with “Mareibak Ningba Herachandra” declared as the Best Film of the year.
