Feb 23, 2025: In what could be considered one of the biggest marijuana hauls in the Northeast states, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, seized marijuana worth Rs 10.29 crores in Bejoynagar, West Tripura, on Saturday (Feb 22, 2025). Two people have also been arrested and handed over to authorities for legal proceedings along with the seized 2,286.9 kg of the contraband item.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles, along with the Customs Preventive Force in Champhai, recovered counterfeit cigarettes (Gold Flake) worth Rs 42.50 lakhs from the general area of Chhungte, Champhai District, Mizoram, on the same day.
