The 49th Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Imphal was inaugurated in a grand and colourful ceremony today, marked by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp with a flame brought on foot by Class XII cadets from Imphal Airport.
The inaugural function was further highlighted by captivating physical displays, with cadets presenting a flawless mass PT display, followed by energetic aerobics and impressive Zumba performances, reflecting the school’s rigorous physical training and commitment to fitness.
The Vice-Chancellor of National Sports University, Imphal, Dr. Shyam Sundar Rath, attended the occasion as Chief Guest and formally declared the meet open. In his address, he highlighted the importance of sports in shaping character, discipline, and leadership, while encouraging cadets to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
Officiating Principal Lt Col Satish Kumar Singh expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest for his inspiring presence and said the meet will feature various track and field events over the coming days. He also appreciated the cadets’ spirited participation and thanked staff, parents, guests, and media persons for contributing to the success of the event.
