Feb 26, 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation, security forces and the Forest Division of Kangpokpi conducted a joint operation in the hill ranges of Naphai, under the jurisdiction of Saikul Police Station. The operation, carried out in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), led to the destruction of approximately 35 acres of poppy fields.
Officials estimate the value of the destroyed crops to be around ₹3.9 crore. The action is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug production in the region. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eliminating illicit cultivation and ensuring strict legal action against those involved.
