A massive protest rally against the recently passed Waqf Amendment Act was organized in Lilong, where over 50,000 Muslims participated in a show of strength. The rally, organized by Anjuman-Islah-E-Muasharah, Lilong, carried the message “Kala Kanoon Wapas Lo,” “Protect Waqf Properties,” and “Protect Muslim Rights.”
The rally began at Lilong Dam and moved through Lilong Turen Ahanbi Darul Uloom before reaching its final destination at Lilong Bazar and Bari Jama Masjid. Demonstrators chanted powerful slogans, voicing their strong opposition to the Act, which they believe threatens their community rights, particularly concerning the control and management of Waqf properties.
The participants, including men, women, and children, raised their voices in unity, demanding the immediate repeal of the Act, which they argue undermines the rights and religious freedom of the Muslim community. Protesters carried placards and banners with slogans calling for the protection of Muslim heritage and properties under Waqf, as well as the safeguarding of their socio-economic and cultural interests.
As the rally moved through the streets of Lilong, it drew significant attention, reflecting the widespread concern over the Act within the local Muslim community. Police were present at key points along the route to ensure the safety of the participants and maintain public order throughout the demonstration.
