‘Mauli Snack’ Comes Under Public Health Scanner After 30 Kids Fall Sick

Nov 9, 2025 (Imphal): A packed food item branded as ‘Mauli Snack’ has come under the public health scanner after a suspected case of food poisoning was reported in Senapati and Ukhrul districts of Manipur following its consumption on November 6.

The Director of Health Services/Additional Commissioner of Food Safety, Government of Manipur, has instructed all designated officers (Food Safety) and Food Safety Officers across districts to conduct immediate inspection and sampling of the product from markets and retail outlets within their jurisdiction.

According to reports, the product—whose primary ingredients include maize breed, salt, and spices—is manufactured by Global Trade Link Pvt. Ltd., located at Brahmaputra Industrial Park-Gauripur, District Kamrup, Guwahati, bearing FSSAI License No. 10324002000070.

Earlier, nearly a couple of days ago, 30 students from KTL Excel Higher Secondary School were rushed to Ukhrul District Hospital on Thursday evening after consuming a snack called “Mauli,” in what is suspected to be a case of food contamination.
