The Meetei Community Joint Co-ordinating Committee (MCJCC)—Waithou,Kiyam,Kiyam Siphai,Haokha and Thoubal Khunou of Thoubal district has announced a Mass Public Agitation from January 10 over the Waithou Water Supply Scheme’s failure to supply water to it’s consumers.
This was announced during a press meet held at Babu Bazar on Wednesday.
kh.Inaocha,Treasurer,MCJCC stated that the scheme has been dysfunctional since December 24, causing hardship to consumers. Despite complaints, the concerned departments have failed to resolve the issue. The MCJCC has written to the Executive Engineer PHED Thoubal and Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, but to no avail,he added.
The committee alleges that the scheme’s failure is causing immense hardship to the public, and demands immediate restoration of water supply. If the issue is not resolved by January 9, the MCJCC will lead a mass public agitation from January 10.
