A student from Odisha, studying at a private medical college in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, was allegedly raped by three men. The incident has sparked protests from both the BJP and Congress in West Bengal, slamming the TMC Government on Sunday.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, to take swift action against the perpetrators of the crime. The police launched an investigation after the victim’s parents lodged an FIR, but no arrests had been made till the filing of this report.
Opposition BJP and Congress on Sunday held protests in different places across West Bengal over the alleged gang rape of a medical student in Durgapur, seeking exemplary punishment for the accused. BJP supporters held a protest march to the Asansol South Police Station and staged a sit-in outside its gates.
