The Manipur Meetei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has issued an appeal to the Governor of Manipur, demanding immediate restoration of free and safe movement across the state, which continues to reel under a prolonged conflict.
The organisation highlighted the severe humanitarian fallout, including restricted mobility, economic collapse, and fear gripping daily life.
Pointing to the silence of the central leadership, the MMWO expressed deep dismay over the absence of concrete intervention, particularly under President’s Rule.
The organisation questioned the Prime Minister’s failure to visit the state in the last two years, calling it a painful symbol of neglect.
Citing the recent assault on Md. Ramijuddin, a scrap transporter from Lilong, the MMWO said it reflects the alarming breakdown of law and order and rising vulnerability of minority communities like the Meetei Pangals.
The group urged democratic institutions, media, and citizens across India to stand in solidarity with Manipur’s demand for peace, dignity, and justice, stating it’s not a plea for charity, but a rightful call for constitutional protection.
