A Mega Financial Literacy Camp and District-Level DEAF Account Settlement Camp was held today at Tentha Laibung Community Hall, Tentha, Thoubal district. The event was organised by RBI, SLBC, LDM, and MSCB and sponsored by the Reserve Bank of India, attracting over 400 participants, including bank officials, Indian Postal Payment Bank representatives, and SBI Life Insurance personnel.
The programme was graced by ADM Thoubal Amarjit as Chief Guest, LDO RBI Mayur Agarwal as President, and AGM NABARD Thokchom Kiran Singh as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries included GM DIC Soibam Nabakunja, AGM MSCB N. Randhir, Board Members Heikrujam Jugindro Singh and Loukham Nabadwip Singh, LDM Thoubal Dr. Meitram Uttam Luwang, and BM MSCB Thoubal N. Rameshwor. Officials from various banks also attended the camp.
During the event, participants availed services such as bank account opening, Re-KYC, enrolment under PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, and settlement of DEAF accounts. RBI also conducted a financial literacy quiz. The Chief Guest encouraged the public to adopt good saving habits and make use of bank loans under government schemes, while the President highlighted the role of the Banking Ombudsman and informed participants about exchanging soiled notes and depositing ₹2000 notes.
GM DIC S. Nabakunja Singh emphasised the importance of Udyam Registration for MSME recognition and participation in the GeM portal, while AGM NABARD Thokchom Kiran Singh briefed attendees on KCC and agricultural loans. Guest of Honour Dr. Meitram Uttam Luwang cautioned against AI-driven digital frauds and explained the importance of Udyam Registration for business loans, using UPI QR transactions to build financial records, and filing ITR and obtaining GSTIN for loan appraisal. He also highlighted the settlement of DEAF accounts under the ongoing campaign “Your Money, Your Right” (Oct 4–Dec 31, 2025), the benefits of PMSBY, PMJJBY, and APY pensions, loans for farmers under KCC and business loans under Mudra schemes, details of subsidy schemes such as PMEGP, PMFME, PM-Vishwakarma, PM-Svanidhi, and CMESS, and the importance of crop insurance under PMFBY, with Paddy and Cabbage as the notified crops in Manipur.
So far, ₹9 lakh from 20 DEAF accounts in Thoubal district have been successfully settled by SBI Thoubal.
