Speaking on the occasion, President of the Rotary Club of Imphal, Dr. Thingngujam Bijen, stated that the camp and awareness programme were conducted as part of the Rotary Club’s routine social service initiatives. He added that for the past several years, similar health camps have been organised annually in different remote and underserved areas across Manipur.

During the camp, doctors from 12 different medical departments provided free consultations and health services. Free screening and testing facilities for cervical cancer, eye diseases, diabetes, and other ailments were made available, along with free distribution of medicines and spectacles. Dr. Bijen further informed that, in collaboration with RIMS, the Organ Donation Awareness Campaign was organised with the objective of promoting a new lease of life for patients in need through organ donation. He appealed to the public, stating that even after death, donated organs can save the lives of many others.

As part of the campaign, a cycle rally was also organised to spread awareness about organ donation. The rally commenced from RIMS and concluded at the Khunjampat Ground, the venue of the medical camp. Participants in the rally were flagged off and encouraged by the Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Dr. Sanjib, and the Secretary, Skill, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship (SLEE), Government of Manipur, Nongmaithem Bandana (IAS). The rally featured placards and posters carrying messages such as “Death Can Save Lives,” “Live Then Give,” “No Buying, No Selling of Organs and Tissues,” “Share Life to Save Lives,” “Your Final Gift: Life,” and “Support Deceased Organ Donation.”

The Mega Health Camp witnessed the participation of more than 320 patients, who availed free medical consultations and treatment in various departments including Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dental, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Surgery, and Gynaecology. Free medicines and other necessary medical support were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
