Mega Marathon Held at Noney District to Promote Drug-Free India

March 6, 2025: “Running towards a drug-free future,” Noney District witnessed an overwhelming response as hundreds participated in a Mega Marathon under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign.

As part of the nationwide initiative, the event was flagged off by Noney SP Peter Namsadai Pamei in the presence of Noney ADC Stiff Khapudang and other dignitaries at Noney Bridge in Longmai Bazar. The marathon, organized jointly by the District Administration Noney, District Social Welfare Office Noney, and Noney Police, saw enthusiastic participation from both male and female runners in the open category.

The race route for the female category started from Longmai Bazar Bridge to Makhuam Part-4 waiting shed on NH-37 and concluded at Longmai-3 Common Ground. Meanwhile, the male category commenced from Longmai Bazar Bridge to DC Junction on NH-37 and ended at Longmai-3 Common Ground.

Among the top finishers, Gainithui Malangmei secured the first prize in the male category, followed by Gaitanthai Gonmei in second place and Rephidim Phaomei in third. In the female category, Kathanduanliu Gonmei claimed the first prize, with Lungthaoliu Panmei finishing second and Gaingamliu Kamei securing third place.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, on 15th August 2020, aims to create a drug-free nation by spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among youth and children.
