Meghalaya Man Arrested for Inciting Terrorism, Supporting Pahalgam Attack

Simon Shylla, a 30-year-old resident of Meghalaya, has been apprehended by the special cell of the state police.

His arrest follows a controversial Facebook post in the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Shylla’s social media message, deemed pro-terrorism, has sparked widespread concern over its implications for national security and communal harmony.

Simon Shylla came under scrutiny after allegedly posting anti-national sentiments on a local channel’s video report about the Pahalgam terror incident.

His remarks reportedly incited violence against a specific community in the Northeast, raising serious concerns about unity and public safety.

The police acted and seized two mobile devices from Shylla’s possession and registered a case at Lumdiengjri police station for criminal conspiracy, promoting religious enmity, and actions threatening the integrity of the nation.
