The Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Moirangpurel, staged a demonstration today opposing the government’s reported move to withdraw the Ukhrul police post stationed at Moirangpurel in Imphal East.
The women protesters stated that the outpost had been playing a crucial role in safeguarding farmers and locals in the area during the prolonged unrest.
Advisor of the Meira Paibi, Leitanthem Ongbi Debala, told mediapersons that Moirangpurel lies within the conflict zone and removing the security personnel would leave villagers vulnerable.
They further urged the government to ensure that the police remain in their present posting and also pressed for the release of pending ration money meant for the personnel deployed there.
