March 10, 2025: The annual event ‘Sajibu Kudol Tamba amadi Eegi Khongul Liba,’ organized by Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL), will be held on April 11, 2025. Invitees from the Tangkhul community and Meitei diaspora from Tripura, Assam, and Silchar, who have migrated to other places, will also join the event, informed Secretary General Wahengbam Luwangleima in a press meet held in Imphal this afternoon.
This event, organized by IKAL since 2014 during the spring season, involves women presenting gifts to their male brethren at the onset of Meitei New Year (according to the Manipur lunar calendar). It also aims to trace the bloodlines of the Meitei diaspora and reconnect them with their distant brethren.
On this occasion, recognition will be given to women below 50 years who have given birth to more than five children. Additionally, ‘Ougri Hanggen Chongba’ is set to be organized, and the public is encouraged to participate in culturally relevant traditional outfits.
