APRIL 19, 2026 (IMP): COCOMI (the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity) has reiterated again its demand for a military crackdown against “Kuki Narco-Terrorists” to bring an end to the current Manipur crisis.
Addressing the media this afternoon, its Convenor YK Dhiren said both the Chief Minister and Home Minister deserve to step down on moral grounds if they cannot initiate a military crackdown against “Kuki Narco-Terrorists.” He added that both the Central and State Governments have been manufacturing a narrative that the current issue is an “ethnic conflict,” and the committee reiterates again that the only means to end the current fiasco lies in a military crackdown against such proxy armies.
Since 2023, after the President’s Rule and with Khemchand’s leadership, a huge question has now arisen when they are trying to continue the proxy war.
COCOMI also said the recurring violent attacks since April 7 of this month are aimed at sabotaging the peace initiatives of the Chief Minister and are nothing but a slap in the face of the Chief Minister’s efforts.
The committee also demanded justice in the ‘Tronglaobi incident’; a judicial enquiry into the incident of CRPF firing and the subsequent public protest that led to the deaths of protestors against the ‘Tronglaobi incident’; and relevant legal action. It also appealed to the security forces not to take excessive action against protestors taking part in the current movement.
