Feb. 6, 2025: In a dramatic return to Imphal today, Manipur Minister Yumnam Khemchand landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport following a mysterious trip to Delhi.
Amid swirling rumors of political upheaval, Khemchand remained tight-lipped, offering only a “No comment” when inquired about Manipur’s political landscape.
Amid heightened anticipation over potential leadership changes in the N. Biren Singh government, Khemchand reportedly met several ministers and legislators during his visit to Delhi.
It was also speculated that he might have been summoned to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, although it remains unclear whether the meeting took place.
This visit comes shortly after Manipur Speaker Th. Satyabarta’s meeting with Amit Shah, further fueling speculation about leadership changes in the state.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and his seven legislative colleagues, who were also speculated to have rushed to the national capital yesterday, were seen taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, UP, and attending the Maha Kumbh Maha Sports Parva today in UP.
