JAN 24, 2026 (Kakching): Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA M. Rameshwar inspected the ongoing road construction works being carried out using paver block technology along the 350-metre stretch of Bamol Pareng of Kakching Sumak Leikai under Kakching A/C on Saturday.
During the inspection, MLA Rameshwar stated that, considering public convenience and long-term durability, paver block technology is being adopted for road construction across Kakching A/C. He informed that so far around 55 roads have been completed using this technology, including main roads and inter-locality roads, and that the remaining damaged roads would also be taken up and completed in phases in the coming days.
He further said that despite the prevailing political developments in Manipur, efforts are being made to ensure that developmental works in the constituency are not affected. Appealing to the public, the MLA urged people to extend cooperation and support for the successful implementation of development activities in the constituency.
Responding to a query regarding the recent murder of M. Rishikanta, MLA Rameshwar stated that criminals are criminals, irrespective of caste, community, group, or region, and that no one involved in criminal activities should be protected. He asserted that identifying offenders in a timely manner and ensuring appropriate punishment is the responsibility of the government, and this must be carried out strictly.
He further added that the present PR government is committed to ensuring justice in the Rishikanta murder case and that all concerned authorities are working to uncover the truth.
He mentioned that the case has now been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) following persistent demands by the Joint Action Committee (JAC).
MLA Rameshwar also emphasised that peace and normalcy are essential for development and progress. He stated that acts of violence aimed at disrupting peace and hindering developmental works are anti-social in nature. He appealed to all, including Kuki MLAs, to cooperate in identifying such anti-social elements and ensuring that they are brought to justice so that peace and development can prevail in the state.
