“True development will come only through unity and mutual understanding” – Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam
Thoubal, October 21:
Two newly constructed community halls were inaugurated at Salungpham Kang-Thokchao Sapam Leirak and Salungpham Kang Yambem Awang Leikai under the Heirok Assembly Constituency on Tuesday. The halls were constructed under the MLA Local Area Development Fund for the year 2024–25. The inauguration programme was led by MLA Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam, who formally opened the halls in the presence of local residents.
Dr. Radheshyam attended the main inaugural event held at Salungpham Kang Yambem Awang Leikai as the Chief Guest. During his address, he expressed that only unity and mutual understanding among the people can lead to true development. “If we continue to work together with the spirit of understanding and cooperation, our localities will witness peace and progress. Disunity or negativity will only hinder community development,” he remarked.
He further mentioned that the inauguration coinciding with the festive season of Diwali carries symbolic importance, representing light, harmony, and togetherness. He urged everyone to nurture the spirit of goodwill and avoid negativity or hostility within the community. “A good heart, pure intentions, and positive actions are the true signs of a civilized and progressive society,” he added.
The MLA also emphasized that the newly inaugurated community halls should serve as centers of harmony and constructive public activities, promoting collective welfare and fostering social bonds among the people.
The programme was attended by a large number of locals, including elders and members of BJP Heirok Mandal, led by its president Thokchom Chourjit, along with other prominent community members.
