Thanga Assembly Constituency MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh, accompanied by officials of the district administration and local authorities, today visited several areas affected by the recent hailstorm and heavy rain in Bishnupur district and extended relief assistance to the impacted families.
The sudden hailstorm, which struck parts of the district on Sunday, damaged several houses and created difficulties for residents in different localities under the Thanga Assembly Constituency.
During the visit, the MLA inspected the affected areas including Thanga Ngaram, Thanga Khunjem, Thanga Ithing Khola and Thanga Oinam, where he assessed the extent of the damage and interacted with the families who were impacted by the storm.
As part of the immediate relief measures, GI sheets and financial assistance were distributed to the affected households. Families whose houses were fully or severely damaged were provided three bundles of GI sheets each along with financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to help them begin repairing their homes.
Officials accompanying the MLA also reviewed the situation on the ground and assured that necessary steps would be taken to extend further assistance to the affected residents.
Local residents expressed appreciation for the MLA’s prompt visit and relief support, stating that the assistance would help them cope with the damage caused by the sudden hailstorm and heavy rain that affected several residential structures in the constituency.
