In a significant public welfare drive, Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh today led the distribution of key government benefits to the people of his constituency, reaching out to internally displaced persons (IDPs), senior citizens, and farmers. The event was held at his residence in Keirenphabi and marked a proactive effort to bring essential services and support directly to the grassroots.
Under the Ayushman Bharat initiative, PM-JAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) Health Cards were distributed to IDPs currently staying in relief camps. These cards enable cashless access to healthcare services worth up to ₹5 lakh per family annually in empanelled hospitals. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding the health rights of families displaced due to conflict and instability.
Speaking to beneficiaries, MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh said,
“Our displaced families have suffered for too long. This initiative ensures that medical help reaches them when they need it most. It’s not just about treatment; it’s about restoring dignity and security.”
Alongside the health initiative, the MLA also distributed Old Age Pension Scheme Cards to senior citizens across the constituency. These cards will provide monthly financial support to elderly citizens, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to protecting the welfare of those who laid the foundations of the community.
“Our elders deserve more than just respect, they deserve dependable support. These pensions will help ease their burdens and ensure they age with dignity,” the MLA said.
In a separate initiative focused on strengthening the agriculture sector, battery-operated sprayers were handed out to local farmers at subsidised rates. These tools are intended to reduce manual labour and increase efficiency during the peak of the cultivation season. The MLA interacted personally with farmers, listening to their challenges and assuring them of continuous assistance and timely interventions.
The entire distribution drive was carried out in a well-organised and transparent manner under the direct supervision of MLA Robindro Singh. Beneficiaries who were unable to collect their cards or sprayers during the event were assured that follow-up distributions are planned. Constituents with incomplete documentation have been requested to contact the MLA’s office at the earliest to complete the necessary formalities.
