Monsang Community Observes 7th Day of Prayer at Changnhe Village in Chandel

The 7th Sirti Thamna Enii (Monsang Day of Prayer 2025) was held on Tuesday at Changnhe Village Community Hall in Chandel, bringing together members of the Monsang Naga community in prayer and thanksgiving under the theme “Blessed Is the Nation Whose God Is the Lord.”

The programme began with words of welcome and praise, followed by blessings and prayers led by Vincent Warnong, Catechist of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Liwa Khullen, and Rev. Shrimon Monsang, Vice President of the Chandel Naga Christian Forum. Both ministers shared messages of faith, unity, and community growth.

Delivering the keynote address, Ng. Benithan, President of the Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union), explained that Sirti Thamna Enii — meaning “Prayer Day of the Monsang Naga Tribe” — is observed annually on October 29 to commemorate the Government of India’s recognition of the Monsang as a Scheduled Tribe in 1956.

The event, moderated by Sh. Micky Victor, General Secretary of SUR, featured group performances by women’s fellowships from Liwachangning, Japhou, Liwa Sarei, Liwa Khullen, Monsang Pantha, and the host village Changnhe.

Special prayers were offered by Sanuw Ts. Changninglei, Pastor of Japhou Bazar Monsang Baptist Church, while the vote of thanks was delivered by K. Hringam, Deputy Speaker of SUR. The observance concluded with a closing prayer by K. Bosom, Pastor of Liwachangning Baptist Church.
