More BJP MLAs have now rushed to New Delhi to press the central leaders for the installation of a popular government in Manipur. MLA of Andro Assembly, Th. Shyamkumar Singh, before his departure from Imphal Airport, opined that there’s no better option left other than resignation as a BJP MLA if the central leaders fail to give an appointment to heed their calls.

The BJP MLAs who boarded the same flight to Delhi today include MLA Y. Khemchand, MLA U. Deben Singh, MLA Karam Shyam, and MLA L. Rameshore, along with a team of BJP MLAs. Another MLA team, headed by Speaker Th. Satyabrata, also took an evening flight to Delhi that included MLA Sheik Nurool Hassan, MLA K. Robindro, MLA Kh. Joykishan, and MLA Kh. Ibomcha.

Former Manipur CM N. Biren Singh is already camped in Delhi. He was joined by MLAs H. Dingo, MLA T. Robindro, and MLA Dinganglung Gangmei.

The state has been under President’s Rule since February 13 this year, and it was later extended till February 26, 2026, after violence broke out in the state on May 3, 2023. The legislators now hope for a meeting with central leaders for the installation of a democratically elected government that underscores the urgency within the party to resolve the crisis and re-establish governance in the state.
