The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Imphal East was held today at Panchayat Bhavan, Imphal East DC Office Complex, Porompat. Chaired by Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament for Inner Manipur, the meeting focused on reviewing various centrally sponsored schemes and strengthening coordination among government departments.
Dr. Akoijam emphasized the importance of holding DISHA meetings quarterly, noting that they had not been conducted properly in the financial years 2024 and 2025. To restore regularity, at least one meeting was scheduled before the end of the current financial year. He stressed that DISHA meetings are crucial for improving interdepartmental coordination and ensuring that government schemes translate into tangible benefits for the people.
Officials from key departments, including Education, Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Housing, and Urban Development, presented updates on initiatives such as PM POSHAN, PMGSY, PMAY-G, MGNREGS, and the Smart Cities Mission. Dr. Akoijam called for greater transparency and accountability in implementing these programs, urging stakeholders to move beyond routine presentations and focus on effective execution.
The meeting highlighted the need for grassroots-level monitoring, on-site inspections, and proactive governance to enhance development efforts. Discussions centered on critical sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, and livelihood development.
The session was attended by MLA Khundrakpam AC Th. Lokeshwar, Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, elected local body members, DISHA committee nominees, and District Level Officers, reinforcing a collective commitment to advancing development in Imphal East.
