MPCC Collects Over 4 Lakh Signatures; O. Ibobi Singh Releases Campaign Songs

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has announced the successful collection of 4,07,241 signatures as part of the nationwide “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” signature campaign launched by the Indian National Congress.

A function marking the culmination of the campaign was held at Congress Bhavan, Imphal, where former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh and MPCC President K. Meghachandra Singh were among those present. Senior party leaders, MLAs, and Congress functionaries from across the state attended the event.

During the programme, O. Ibobi Singh released two official campaign songs related to the “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” movement. The songs, composed locally, reflect the party’s message against alleged corruption and misuse of power by the ruling BJP-led government.

Addressing the gathering, K. Meghachandra Singh said that the MPCC and its district and block units had worked tirelessly to mobilize people across the state. “The campaign witnessed overwhelming public participation. The compiled signatures will be submitted to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) as part of the nationwide drive,” he stated.

According to the report compiled by the MPCC, the highest number of signatures came from Lilong constituency (30,330), followed by Konthoujam (25,544) and Wabagai (25,230).

The Congress party’s “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” campaign aims to highlight what it calls the erosion of democratic values and corruption under the current central government.
