MPCC Hits Out at Mohan Bhagwat’s Visit, Says ‘Manipur Needs Peace, Not RSS Expansion’

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has strongly criticised the visit of RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat to the State, describing it as “misplaced” at a time when Manipur continues to suffer from violence, mass displacement, and administrative collapse.

MPCC president and Opposition MLA K. Meghachandra, in a statement released through his official Facebook handle, said that the people of Manipur were expecting a peace initiative from the Central Government rather than what appears to be an effort focused on strengthening RSS organisational activities.

The statement pointed out that Manipur is still struggling with thousands of displaced citizens living in uncertainty, homes destroyed, and communities deeply divided.

In such a situation, the Congress noted, the urgent need is for rehabilitation, relief, and a roadmap for rebuilding normal life, not political or ideological mobilisation.

Meghachandra further stressed that the involvement of the RSS would not solve the present turmoil, as the crisis demands a government-led political solution, accountability from the administration, and confidence-building measures among communities.

He added that if the Central Government is serious about resolving the Manipur crisis, it must send a concrete peace roadmap backed by a unified command structure, clear measures for the safe return of displaced families, and responsibility for the failures that allowed the situation to deteriorate.

The MPCC reaffirmed that it stands firmly with the people, insisting that the focus must remain on restoring normalcy, protecting every community, and ensuring justice for the victims.

Any high-profile visit that prioritises organisational growth over humanitarian suffering, the statement concluded, sends the wrong message at a moment when Manipur desperately needs healing, not further polarisation.
