MPCC Stages Protest in Imphal Against Centre’s Alleged Political Vendetta

As part of a nationwide campaign against the BJP-led Central government’s alleged “political vendetta” targeting opposition leaders, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) staged a protest in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Imphal on Wednesday.

The protest was led by former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Okram Ibobi Singh. He was joined by MPCC president K. Meghachandra, former MP Dr. T. Meinya, and a large number of party leaders and workers. The rally marched to the ED office at Sangakpham in Imphal West, where protesters raised slogans denouncing the Central government’s actions.

Security forces were deployed in front of the ED office as a precautionary measure ahead of the protest.

Addressing the media, Ibobi Singh accused the BJP government of misusing central agencies such as the ED and CBI to harass opposition leaders. “If this continues, the essence of democracy will be undermined,” he said, strongly condemning the government’s approach.

MPCC president Meghachandra termed the Centre’s actions as a “political vendetta,” stating that they were intended to suppress the voices and rights of opposition parties.
