A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) at the New Secretariat in Imphal, marking a significant step toward strengthening rural financial inclusion.
The agreement will facilitate simplified procedures for opening savings accounts for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and provide improved access to credit. It also allows for the engagement of eligible SHG members as Business Correspondents in unbanked blocks, helping ensure last-mile delivery of banking services across Manipur.
Vinay Kumar, PNB’s Zonal Manager for Guwahati, emphasized the bank’s commitment to working closely with beneficiaries of the Lakhpati Didi initiative under MSRLM. He said the collaboration would help women entrepreneurs achieve sustainable income and realize the mission’s goal of empowering rural households.
Officials from MSRLM and PNB, including senior managers and regional heads, attended the signing ceremony. The initiative is expected to bolster rural livelihoods and improve access to inclusive, community-driven banking services in the state.
