In the wake of the tragic incident involving Air India’s AI 171, concerns over flight safety have intensified as multiple flights faced technical issues in recent days.
On Monday and Tuesday, several Air India and Air India Express flights reportedly encountered operational disruptions due to suspected technical snags, prompting safety inspections and passenger inconveniences.
Amid heightened safety concerns following the tragic crash of Air India’s AI 171 on June 12, where the flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed moments after takeoff, several incidents of technical issues have plagued Air India and Air India Express flights in the past days.
Early Tuesday, passengers aboard an Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai were deplaned at Kolkata airport due to a technical snag in one of its engines.
Flight AI180, scheduled to depart from Delhi to Ranchi, also faced a setback as it returned to the capital shortly after takeoff on Monday due to a suspected technical problem in its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Both incidents led to safety inspections and delayed schedules.
Furthermore, Air India’s flight AI2493 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was canceled after prolonged delays attributed to operational issues and crew exceeding their Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). The Airbus A321-211 aircraft assigned to the route experienced unspecified delays, resulting in the flight’s cancellation for safety reasons.
In a separate incident, flight AI315 bound for Delhi was compelled to return mid-air to Hong Kong following a pilot’s report of a suspected technical problem. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route from Hong Kong, safely deboarded all passengers upon landing, and the aircraft is currently undergoing rigorous safety inspections.
