National I&PR Conference Held to Strengthen Centre-State Synergy in Public Communication

A day-long National Conference on Coordination between State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Departments and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) was held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event brought together Secretaries of I&PR Departments from across the States and Union Territories to deliberate on ways to enhance convergence in media and public communication.

Representing Manipur, Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director of the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), and Ningthoujam Roshan Singh, Assistant Publicity Officer (Press), attended the conference. The sessions, moderated by Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of I&B, featured discussions on onboarding State and UT I&PR Departments onto the Press Sewa Portal, promotion of low-cost cinemas and the India Cine Hub Portal, development of live event venues with single-window clearances, collaboration opportunities with WAVES Bazaar, and strategies to strengthen information dissemination between the Centre and States.

Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Dr. Loganathan Murugan, highlighted the Press Sewa Portal (https://presssewa.prgi.gov.in/), developed to implement the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act (PRP Act) 2023, which streamlines end-to-end application, registration, and compliance processes. The Ministry informed that more than 20 online training sessions have already been conducted to orient specified authorities on the new Act and portal workflows, with continued support planned for smooth adoption.

Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau, Dhirendra Ojha, also presented measures to enhance collaboration in information dissemination. Participants were urged to register on the Prasar Bharati SHABD Portal (https://shabd.prasarbharati.org/) for real-time news updates from across the country. The conference underscored the importance of Centre-State coordination in sharing best practices, addressing challenges collectively, and strengthening the media ecosystem for accurate and responsible content dissemination.
