After embarking on the sacred Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the native pilgrims of Manipur returned home this morning to traditional greetings at Bir Tikendrajit Imphal International Airport. The welcome was organised in collaboration with state authorities and airport stakeholders.
Altogether, 459 pilgrims from Manipur undertook their spiritual journey to Mecca this year, including 257 males and 207 females.
Hajj is a spiritual and transformative journey to Mecca for Muslims, offering a chance for spiritual growth, forgiveness, and a stronger connection with God. Mecca is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the city where he received the first revelations of the Quran.
During their return at the airport, special arrangements were made at the terminal to assist elderly pilgrims and those requiring medical or logistical support. Airport staff, along with representatives from the State Haj Committee, extended their cooperation to provide seamless immigration clearance, baggage handling, and onward transportation assistance.
