To advance nursing education in Manipur, a new private Nursing Institute has been formally opened in Imphal — the Raj Medicity Nursing Institute located at North A.O.C. The inaugural event was attended by Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare (IAS) Salam Somorjit, Director of Health Services Dr. Chambo Gonmei as chief guest and guest of honor, respectively, and Registrar of the Manipur Nursing Council Dr. Aribam Jamuna Devi among the dignitaries.
Special Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Salam Somorjit, said nurses from Manipur are highly sought after beyond the state, owing to their unique emotional attachment and dedication to patients. Their guidance and compassionate care ensure that patients feel supported and secure throughout treatment. He said the new institute will benefit the public and aspiring students, particularly those who prefer to study in the state.
Chairman and Managing Director of Raj Medicity, Haobijam Rajen Singh, reflected on the hospital’s journey since its inception in 2004, highlighting its service during the COVID-19 pandemic, periods of civil unrest, and natural calamities. He emphasized the pivotal role of nurses, stating, “Nurses have saved countless lives and, in today’s times, should be an integral presence in every household. Their contribution to patient recovery and healthcare is indispensable. This new institute represents a major step in nurturing skilled healthcare professionals with modern facilities.”
He further added, “Even in the era of Artificial Intelligence, machines cannot replace nurses. Nursing is a profoundly human profession that relies on empathy and emotional attachment — qualities that remain irreplaceable. Our institute will continue to instill these values in the next generation of nurses.”
