NHPC Marks Its 51 Years of Services for Clean Energy

Nov 11, 2025 (Imphal): The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, which implemented the Loktak Hydropower Project in Manipur, marked its 51 years on Tuesday and renewed its commitment to clean energy, sustainability, and national development in Manipur.

The Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, as chief guest, attended the 51st NHPC Raising Day celebration held at Church Ground in Loktak Project and congratulated NHPC Limited for completing over five decades of commitment to clean energy, sustainability, and national development.

The NHPC’s multipurpose hydroelectric power project in Manipur, which includes the 105 MW Loktak Power Station commissioned in 1983, is a multipurpose storage scheme to harness the hydropower potential of Loktak Lake fed by the Khuga and Imphal rivers.

The NHPC is a public sector undertaking in India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and its mission is to plan, promote, and organize the development of hydroelectric power in India.
