One key suspect in the Jiribam killing, which included three minors in November 2024, has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), with support from Cachar police.
The arrested has been identified as Thanglienlal Hmar, also known as Boya, for his alleged role in the killings of six individuals in Jiribam district, Manipur.
Thanglienlal Hmar, a resident of Moinathol village in Dilkhosh Grant, Cachar (Assam), is accused of providing logistic support in the abduction and subsequent murder of the six, including three minors. According to Cachar SSP Numal Mahatta, the accused allegedly ferried six captives—three women and three children—and three armed attackers in camouflage from Jakuradhar Ghat to Kaisalpunjee village Ghat using his boat.
The brutal incident, which sent shockwaves and heightened ethnic tensions in the region, remains under active investigation. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was followed by intelligence-based raids, and further detentions are likely as the probe deepens.
