Feb 24, 2025 : Since September 1, 2024, over 40 drone bombs have rained down on Meitei villages at the fringe of Imphal West district, Manipur. Now, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly revealed the supplier of the drones and the person who procured them after an investigation.
The NIA has been probing the case since September 1, following the drone attacks carried out at Koutruk, Kadangband, and Senjam Chirang in Imphal West, and officially took over the case on September 20, 2024.
The attack claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman, Ngangbam Surbala Devi, while her six-year-old daughter was injured.
The suppliers of the drones dropped in the Koutruk and Kadangband areas of Imphal West in September last year were based in Delhi and Haryana. It has been reported that one Khaigoulen Kipgen from Gamngai village procured these drones and accessories from Delhi-based Mayank Sharma and Rohtak-based Vikram Chaudhary after paying a hefty amount.
