The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended one Kuki militant and took him to Guwahati by an Air India flight on Thursday at 5:50 pm. He is suspected to be involved in the brutal murder of four persons, including a father-son duo, on January 18, 2024, near Kha Khunou Water Treatment Plant in Bishnupur district of Manipur.
The arrested person has been identified as Jamkhogin Guite, alias Jamkhogin Lupho or Pepsi, 26, son of (L) Songam Guite of Tolbung Village, PS Chakpikarong, Chandel district.
According to reports, on January 18, 2024, at approximately 3:50 pm, six militants (suspected to be) from United Kuki National Army (UKNA), Kuki National Army (KNA), and Kuki National Front (KNF) allegedly attacked and killed four persons near the Kha Khunou Water Treatment Plant on the banks of the Khujailok River. The NIA registered the case on February 9, 2024, and initiated a detailed investigation.
The deceased were identified as Oinam Bamonjao, his son Oinam Manitomba, Thiyam Somorendro, and Ningthoujam Nabadip.
