Ningol Chakouba Celebrated for Women Inmates at Kakching Khunou Relief Camp

Kakching, Oct 25: The Kanglei Yelhou Cheingak (KYC), in collaboration with the Kakching Khunou Relief Camp Committee, organized a Ningol Chakouba celebration for women inmates at the KBM English School Relief Camp, Kakching Khunou, on Saturday.

Around 400 inmates from Serou, Sugnu, and Kumbi constituencies—particularly from Napat and Tangjeng Ahallup—are currently taking shelter at the camp. As part of the celebration, KYC and the Relief Camp Committee distributed gifts, food, and essential supplies to the inmates. Children staying at the camp were also provided with books, pens, and stationery items as a gesture of care and encouragement.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including COHSEM Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh, COHSEM Secretary Kh. Ashikumar, BOSEM Controller Ayam Thoi Singh, Kanglei Yelhou Cheingak President Nongthombam Sanahal, Advisors S. Ratan and M. Roben Meetei, Apunba Manipur Ema President Oinam Inaocha Devi, KMWO Head Office President MARC Nasir Khan, Relief Camp Chairman Kh. Babu, and Convenor M. Ratan.

Speaking on the occasion, COHSEM Chairman T. Ojit Singh said that while the inmates were enduring hardships away from their homes, such initiatives brought emotional comfort and encouragement, especially to women and children. He assured that COHSEM would continue to extend possible support in the days to come.

KYC President Nongthombam Sanahal remarked that despite the prevailing difficulties, the organization remains committed to standing in solidarity with the displaced people. He said the Ningol Chakouba celebration aimed to spread warmth, love, and unity among the inmates, symbolizing hope for peace, harmony, and a united Manipur.
