Ningol Club to Distribute Gifts to 300 Widows on International Women’s Day in Heirok

In observance of International Women’s Day 2026, Ningol Club has announced that it will organise a special programme in Heirok under the global theme “Give to Gain,” during which gifts will be distributed to 300 widows.

The announcement was made during a press briefing by Ningol Club Secretary Moirangthem Inunganbi Chanu. She stated that the programme will be held on March 8 in collaboration with various groups in Heirok.

According to the organisers, the beneficiaries will include 300 widows between the ages of 18 and 50. Gifts in the form of phaneks (traditional attire) will be distributed as a gesture of solidarity and support.

The Secretary highlighted that many widows continue to face emotional, social, and economic hardships. The initiative aims to provide encouragement, restore dignity, and offer moral support to women navigating difficult life circumstances.

She further stressed the importance of recognising widows’ rights and ensuring they are able to live with respect and equal opportunities within society. The Club also appealed to the public to extend support and cooperation in making the programme meaningful and impactful.

In addition to this initiative, Ningol Club informed that more welfare activities for the well-being and empowerment of widows will be taken up in the future.
