If PM Visits Imphal, the Manipur Issue Can Be Considered Addressed

Responding to queries regarding the speculated visit of the Prime Minister to Manipur, BJP General Secretary K. Saratkumar stated, “If the Prime Minister visits the state, he is expected to draw a conclusion on the prevailing crisis in Manipur.” However, he clarified that there is no official information or confirmed date regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit, and the state party office has not received any formal communication on the matter.

Addressing the media at its office in Imphal, he added that although there is no official confirmation from sources, preparations in various areas suggesting a possible high-profile visit are already visible.

A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel on August 30 reportedly focused on security arrangements, crowd management, and infrastructure improvements in Imphal and Churachandpur. The Director General of Police, working in coordination with the Special Protection Group (SPG), is said to be overseeing convoy and security protocols. Departments including health, public works, and urban development have also been tasked with preparing for large gatherings.

Road repairs, cleaning drives, and beautification works have reportedly begun along possible routes linked to the Prime Minister’s visit. Speculation further suggests that if the visit takes place, Modi may inaugurate key infrastructure projects such as the Manipur Civil Secretariat, Manipur Police Headquarters, and the Ningthoukhong Market Shed, among others.

Despite these visible signs, officials and the BJP state leadership maintain that no official schedule has been received so far.
