Imphal, Dec 25: While much of the world marked Christmas with prayers and celebrations, internally displaced persons (IDPs), including women and children, continued their relay sit-in protest at Lamboikhongnangkhong today, pressing for immediate resettlement as the year draws to a close.
The protest, which entered its 25th day today, reflects growing anguish among the displaced families, who say they were assured by the PR Government of Manipur that resettlement would be completed before the December deadline.
The IDPs appealed to the government to honour its assurances and take urgent steps to restore dignity, security, and normalcy to displaced families, stressing that peace cannot be sustained without justice and rehabilitation.
