Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra, on the eve of the New Year 2026, said there is little expectation that the government would succeed in restoring peace and normalcy in the state in 2026 unless the present State Assembly is completely dissolved and a fresh public mandate is sought.
Extending New Year 2026 greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghachandra asserted that the ongoing crisis has exposed the failure of the present dispensation to address the aspirations and grievances of the people.
He said only a renewed mandate from the people through fresh elections could pave the way for genuine reconciliation and democratic accountability.
The Congress leader expressed hope that the New Year would bring clarity, justice, and a people-driven political change for lasting peace in Manipur.
